Yeah, they are. It's basically the same as having a roll of tape, it's just that this is the same kind of vinyl you'd use on the hood or roof.
Since I'm going to try and do the roof and trunk myself - I think I might be crazy - I ordered their installation kit that includes a real heat gun. So that'll help. And thanks, I'll keep the "no stretching" very much in mind. I'm guessing it distorts the look of the vinyl?

Darn good point. Any tips, by the way, for getting around the antenna? For the roof I'd planned to do the "hinge" method: put the piece of vinyl down with backing still on, stretch a piece of masking tape across to hold it down across the middle, then do it in halves. To get around the antenna, since I have no pattern for it, I was going to lay the vinyl on top of it, cut some slits to allow it to fit over, stretch and fit it just a bit after peeling the backing, then cut around the base to remove the excess vinyl.
