Mirroring Chromecast-only phone to headunit?

Seeing the VIM cables in the for sale section has me wondering. I have a Google Nexus 6. It will only cast to a Chromecast. What combo of things will it take to get my screen mirrored onto the headunit? I'm not concerned with touchscreen capability at the moment, just video and audio.

Chromecast -> HDMI to composite converter -> rear aux input cable.

You'd want to do the VIM unlock also either by following the online guide or sending it to someone that can.

Where would Chromecast get an internet connection? Wifi hotspot from my phone and simultaneously mirror my screen? Does that even work?

I've heard of people creating a local ad hoc network on their phone (with hotspot) to cast their screen over. I don't know about streaming directly off the net.
