Default Backup camera works only at very low speed

    Hi. Another question from me.
Is it normal, that the backup cam works only at very slow backup speed? My cam does it. At idle speed with foot on brake pedal it works great. Without braking and a minimum of throttle pedal pressure. the monitor switches to black and nothing is to see. I´d connected ( plus) on + from backup light and (minus) at the - cable from it. Is there any switch automatik in the radio?

It’s called Video in Motion or VIM and prevents the picture from displaying above 3-4 mph. System must be bypassed.
Search the forum for threads about VIM (and IWM as another vendor calls it). You will find what you need

Here's a link to a google doc that documents how to enable VIM in any G8 with a stock double din radio. The author is Tim Rose. He's on the Pontiac G8 owners facebook page. I've used his guide and it works. You'll need to buy about $25 worth of parts from amazon and remove your radio to do this yourself. Pretty easy overall.

You'll also want to use the dedicated reverse camera input and not the VIM input.

The dedicated reverse camera input is only available for V9 radios. If not, he will need to purchase a video switcher or only use rear-aux for reverse cam.
