Does the G8 require this part? I'm replacing the sender, but hadn't seen anything about this filter screen??

I've never seen a filter on an LS oil pressure sender.

MGM GXP - M6, sunroof, and a whole lot of fun.
That filter sits in the oil pressure sensor boss casting of the valley cover below the oil pressure sensor. It was my understanding that it had to do with the car having the DoD system, and was necessary because of that moreso than the sensor itself. Lemme do a search and see if I can find the thread where it was talked about...
I searched generally on Google, and yeah, it's beneficial to the DoD system. I think you could just pull it while you're in there, clean it with carb cleaner, and if it looks good, re-install. If it doesn't, then replace it. For $6, I would go ahead and have it on hand, right?

That sits under oil press sensor, and causes crazy low oil press codes if it gets even semi clogged
