Finally
Quick history. Ive been in love with Corvette's since I was about 8. For the past 20 years, Ive been saying Im getting one for my 40th birthday. Fast forward........ I have two kids in college still living at home, and another about to be in college that lives with his mom. We try to go out to eat every Friday as a family, and I like to drink, so I bring my DD's with meThat in and of itself makes a Vette impractical. Not to mention I flipped my truck about a year and a half ago, which put me behind on down payment
Soooo, like any true hot rodder, I decided a CTS-V would be the most practical vehicle to fill my needs. Wife says either get rid of my truck, or hire a divorce attorney. Cant afford a truck note, CTS-V note, AND a divorce attorney, so I nixed that idea too. I have loved the G8's since they came out though, so I decide, Im gonna get one (working nights, seems I like to buy vehicles. I think the last 5 or 6 times I worked nights, I bought a vehicle) Been searching about 6 hrs a night in a 500 mile radius online for a decent G8. I came to find about 8 that fit what I wanted.
2 showed up missing over the weekend, 3 I couldn't get replies about, 2 were still a bit far. I sent the bride a ad for one in Detroit, and she made a comment about the distance (we live in south Louisiana) so me, being the smartass I am, got on good ole craigslist. Found one a few miles down the road. Was waiting for seller to fax a couple of papers to the bank, and I went to sleep. Woke up, called bank, they never got papers, called guy selling, he sold it about "an hour ago" Dammit. But allas one last hope, nope he sold it "yesterday"
Just about to give up, I was shutting all the auto sales pages down and get off the interwebz, and decided to hit CL up one more time.
Came across a clean one owner decent mileage G8 GT just a few miles around the corner, that had posted the add just a few hours earlier. Got in contact with seller, he agreed to let me see car during the day, went and looked, and made an offer. So, long story short, after a slowly operating loan issue, Im now the proud owner of a MSM G8.
Cant wait for the mods. I pulled the tune before coming to work, so as soon as boss man leaves, Ill work on that. Up in the not so distant future is OBX headers, x pipe to ? exhaust (thinking SOLO, but don't want it terribly loud) and most likely Circle D 3200 stall, as well as a set of CTS-V sedan wheels Im picking up from a work buddy.
Further down the line, Im planning on the Camaro rear end (not sure 3.27, or 3.45, but leaning toward the latter) And eventually getting around to the DOD delete, a nasty sounding cam. Im hoping to break into the 11's on motor, and spray it into the 10's possibly.
Its my early 40th birthday present to myself, as an extra vehicle/toy/work vehicle to try and keep a few miles off my truck, and keep my sanity (what little I have left)
