    Default New Tire Concerns

I'm driving a 2001 Celica. The tires were already on when I got the car two months ago.
No real problems, the tires are just in need of replacement. Still seem to handle alright.

my back tires are 215/45R18 Avenger HP's
my front tires are 215/40ZR18 SuperSteel 595's

The dealer I started bringing the car to recommended that I purchase
Nexen N5000 with all tires at 215/35R18.

I've never bought anything other than basic tires, seeing as my old car was a '91 Camry.

Why would I change the sizes and not have a larger tire size in the back?
Any help would be appreciated. I don't want to buy new tires that won't be worth it.

    Thanks!!

What size of tire did you car come with from the factory? I'd start there to see if the size that the dealer recommended is a factory size.

The factory size is P195/60R15 with 29 psi in front and back.

I'm still learning everything about my car because this is the first one I'm doing
any aftermarket parts with. It came with a body kit, rims, and the tires that
I specified earlier. Because I have never owned the original parts, I don't
have any idea how to compare or know what's right. Wherever I go, shops
just try to sell me "better" parts. So I guess, for now, I'm blindly learning what's
    best for my car.

The tires that the dealer recommended would give you a lower profile and slightly wider than your current tires. You could go with a skinnier tire in the front if you want. The nice thing about having all four tires being the same size is that you could rotate them to get more mileage out of them.
